MeshLive
Calls, chats and livestreams over a Bluetooth mesh. Every phone passes it on, so you reach further than Bluetooth alone. No internet, no SIM, no account.
Free and open source · beta
What it does
Calls
- Voice and video calls with people nearby
- End-to-end encrypted, phone to phone
- Missed calls, call back, block unknown callers
Livestream
- Go live and share your camera with everyone around you
- Audio only, like a local radio that keeps playing with the screen off
- Phones in between pass your stream along
Contacts
- Add people by scanning each other's code
- Call them whenever they are nearby
- Strangers only see a random name that changes every 15 minutes
Your privacy
- No internet, SIM, account or server
- Your calls never touch the internet
- Delete everything from the phone in seconds
Made for places with no signal or Wi-Fi: hikes, festivals, trips, basements, and emergencies.
How it works
Bluetooth on its own reaches about 10 to 30 metres. MeshLive turns every phone running it into a relay: your livestream or call hops from phone to phone, so the more people around you use MeshLive, the further you reach. Each hop adds a little delay and Bluetooth is slow, so video is small; audio-only streams reach the furthest.
Apps and status
One protocol, several apps. A phone, a PC and a Mac running MeshLive are meant to call each other and watch each other's streams. This is where each one honestly stands.
